Fiscal Note
The budget amendment contained in this resolution increases the spending authority in the Parks Facility Improvements Capital Project (Parks - Project 5), funded by insurance proceeds. The insurance proceeds are expected to cover the consulting fees for the redesign of the roof (currently under PO for $11,305) and the cost of the actual roof replacement (Contract 6345) to be awarded at $140,980 ($152,260 with an 8% contingency).

SUBSTITUTE - Amending the 2009 Parks Division Capital Budget and Awarding Public Works Contract No. 6345, Warner Park Roof Replacement - 2009.
Body
WHEREAS, the Copper Roofs #6 and #11 at the Warner Park Community Recreation Center were found to be leaking during the winter of 2008/2009; and
WHEREAS, the Parks Department reported the damage to the City of Madison's Risk Manager and showed a representative from the City's insurance carrier the damage at the site; and
WHEREAS, the City of Madison's Risk Manager has reported an estimated repair loss of $227,000 to the City's insurance provider and received approval to proceed with the repairs, and
WHEREAS, the City of Madison's Risk Manager will file a claim for the total actual cost of the replacement cost of the roof, and
WHEREAS the Parks Division's Capital Budget did not anticipate this project and therefore needs to be amended to fund this roof replacement.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the 2009 Parks Division Capital Budget is hereby amended to fund this contract with insurance proceeds; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the following low bids for miscellaneous improvements be accepted and that the Mayor and City Clerk be and are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with the low bidders contained herein, subject to the Contractor's compliance with Section 39.02 of the Madison General Ordinances concerning compliance with the Affirmative Action provisions and subject to the Contractor's compliance with Section 33.07 of the Madison General Ordinances regarding Best Value Contracting:
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the funds be encumbered to cover the cost of the projects contained herein.
