Fiscal Note
This resolution authorizes entering into an agreement with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for grant funding of $5,000 for wetland restoration at Cherokee Marsh. Expenditure authorization and corresponding grant funding are included in the 2013 Parks Division Adopted Capital Budget Conservation Parks Improvements project (#3, 810401). There is no impact upon the tax levy.

Authorizing the Parks Superintendent to enter into a cooperative grant agreement with the United States Department of the Interior, Fish and Wildlife Service for wetland restoration at Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park. (AD 18).
Body
WHEREAS, the United States Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service, Wisconsin Private Lands Office has awarded a grant for wetland restoration at Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park via filling in of old agricultural ditches to restore the natural hydrology; and
WHEREAS, under this agreement the City will use the grant funding towards wetland restoration at Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park, and will provide approximately equal amounts of City funding towards this project; and
WHEREAS, both City and Federal expenditure authorization for this project is available in the Conservation Parks capital project (#810401); and
WHEREAS, the City and the Fish and Wildlife Service have worked collaboratively on habitat restoration efforts over the past four years; and
WHEREAS, the Fish and Wildlife Service indicated that there is additional funding available for the Cherokee Marsh project if the agreement is executed prior to July 12, 2013.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Parks Superintendent is authorized to sign, on behalf of the city, grant agreements with the U.S. Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service, which includes accepting up to $5,000 to fund the above-described services, and also includes other terms and conditions of participating in this program,
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the agreements are to be reviewed and approved by the City Attorney and Risk Manager.
