Revenues and expenditures of $60,000 are included in the Department's 2006 Adopted Operating Budget. The actual amount of the grant will be $81,000. This resolution amends the 2006 MDPH Operating Budget to accept an additional $21,000 from The Bureau of Transportation Safety and reflect the additional revenues and expenses. Body
WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety (BOTS), funds governmental agencies in Wisconsin to support Safe Communities Coalitions; and
 
WHEREAS, safety and injury prevention has been designated by the Public Health Commission (predecessor to Board of Health for Madison and Dane County), Mayor and Common Council as a community health improvement priority; and
 
WHEREAS, The Bureau of Transportation Safety (BOTS) has provided funds to the Madison Department of Public Health for the last seven years to support activities of the Safe Community Coalition of Madison  & Dane County;   
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Madison Department of Public Health is authorized to apply for and accept up to $81,000 from WI Department of Transportation, BOTS, for the period January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2006 to continue the work of the Safe Community Coalition of Madison  & Dane County; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the 2006 Public Health Operating Budget is amended by the following amounts to reflect the increase in the amount of this grant:
       54920 Community Agency Contracts        $21,000
       73214 State Grants                                ($21,000)
 
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, the Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with the Safe Community Coalition of Madison & Dane County for coordination and support of Coalition projects and activities.
