Title
Relating to 2005-2006 Paratransit Licensing.
Body
WHEREAS, the following firms have applied for renewals of their Paratransit operator licenses, effective July 1, 2005,
Affiliated Carriage Systems, Inc., dba Madison Taxi, requesting 47 meter taxicab permits and 3 flat rate permits
Badger Cab Company, Inc., requesting 43 zone taxicab permits
Union Cab of Madison Cooperative, Inc., requesting 61 taxicab permits
Laidlaw Transit Services, Inc., requesting 41 flat rate permits
Transit Solutions, Inc., requesting 22 flat rate permits and one airport shuttle permit
WHEREAS, the Traffic Engineer has provided the Transit and Parking Commission with an investigative report on the applications and a recommendation to grant the licenses; and
WHEREAS, the Transit and Parking Commission recommends to the Common Council that the licenses be granted; and
WHEREAS, after duly considering all the evidence presented by the Transit and Parking Commission, the Common Council recommends that the following actions be taken with respect to the above applications for licenses:
1. Approval of the application for license to operate taxicabs by Affiliated Carriage System, Inc., dba Madison Taxi (1403 Gilson Street) for 50 vehicles.
2. Approval of the application for license to operate taxicabs by Badger Cab Company, Inc. (303 S. Ingersoll St.) for 43 zone taxicab permits.
3. Approval of the application for license to operate taxicabs by Union Cab of Madison Cooperative, Inc. (2458 Pennsylvania Avenue) for 61 permits.
4. Approval of the application for license to operate paratransit service by Laidlaw Transit Services, Inc. (4605 Pflaum Road) for 41 permits.
5. Approval of the application for license to operate taxicabs by Transit Solutions, Inc. (416 S. Main St. Deforest, WI 53532) for 23 permits.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the following licenses are issued, subject to the provisions and conditions as stated above and the ordinances of the City of Madison:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be instructed to issue the licenses authorized by this resolution upon the filing of personal liability and property damage indemnity as required by the Madison General Ordinances, upon filing of a schedule of fares applying to each license so granted as required by said ordinance, and upon registering with the City Clerk the identity of the owner of such licensed cabs, and upon meeting the conditions as set forth above.
