I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following citizen appointments.  "Statement of Interests" forms are on file in the City Clerk's Office for those citizens required to file.

 

BID BOARD

 

*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.

 

Pursuant to Sec. 3.27(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, " … provisions of this section shall not necessarily apply with reference to membership on special study committees where in the judgement of the mayor and two-thirds (2/3) of the Common Council, the best interests of the city will be served by the appointment of certain nonresident members who are particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience … ."

 

*MARIA C. MILSTED, 5900 Highway A, Brooklyn, WI 53521-9455 - reappointed to a three-year term to the position of State Street Area Property Owner.  First Appointed 1-18-2000.

TERM EXPIRES: 1-18-2009.

 

*STACY M. NEMETH, 5688 Kinsale Dr., Fitchburg, 53711 - reappointed to the position of Capitol Square Area Property Owner.  First Appointed 3-2-2004.

TERM EXPIRES: 1-18-2009.

 

Rationale:  At the January 31 BID meeting, the reappointments of Maria Milsted and Stacy Nemeth were approved.

 

HAWK SCHENKEL, 120 N. Baldwin St., 53703 (2nd A.D.) - appointed to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Greater State Street Business Association Representative succeeding Mary Lang Sollinger.  Mr. Schenkel is a self-employed restaurant owner.

TERM EXPIRES: 1-18-2009.

LORI KAY, University of Wisconsin-Madison, reappointed to the position of UW-Madison Representative.  First Appointed 9-16-2003.

MARY LANG SOLLINGER, 1206 Sherman Ave., 53703-1722 (2nd A.D.) - move from the position of  GSSBA Member and appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Downtown Coordinating Committee Representative.  She succeeds Paul Haskew. Ms. Sollinger was first appointed 2-24-2004.

BRIAN T. STEPP, 1323 W. Dayton St. #13, 53715-2225 (8th A.D.) - appointed to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident.  Mr. Stepp is a UW-Madison student majoring in Political Science.  He succeeds Adam Benedetto who resigned.

COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION

 

DIANA L. SHINALL, 1329 Glacier Hill Dr. #3, 53704 (17th A.D.) - move from the Community Representative position and appoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Minority Representative.  She fills the position vacated by Tracey Caradine. Ms. Shinall was first appointed 11-19-2002.

TERM EXPIRES: 10-1-2007.

Ms. Shinall has resigned from the commission.

 

REBECCA J. MENGHINI, 226 N. Hillside Terr., 53705 (11th A.D.) - appointed to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Community Representative.  Ms. Menchini is senior director for campus relations for the Wisconsin Alumni Association.  She fills the position vacated by Diana Shinall.

TERM EXPIRES: 10-1-2006.

LINDA M. RUSSELL, 29 E. Wilson St. #207, 53703 (4th A.D.) - appointed to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident.  Ms. Russell is employed by the State Department of Health and Family Services as a mental health specialist for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.  She succeeds David Poast who resigned.
