I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following resident committee appointments.
*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.
Pursuant to Sec. 3.30(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, "...provision shall not apply to a member of or candidate for appointment to a City of Madison board, committee or commission where, in the judgement of the mayor and two-thirds (2/3) of the Common Council, the best interests of the city will be served by the appointment of a non-resident member who is particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience with Madison business concerns or other Madison-based employers and the Mayor specifies fully to the Common Council the reasons why he or she is recommending such appointment."
MONONA TERRACE COMMUNITY AND CONVENTION CENTER BOARD
*DAVID A. AGUAYO, Cottage Grove - appoint to a three-year term to the position of City Appointee succeeding M. Alice O'Connor.
TERM EXPIRES: 5-1-2025
Rationale: David Aguayo brings a unique perspective of serving as a public policy manager for the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce. His professional involvement has resulted in connections with organizations who work with the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center. His personal and professional commitment to serving a diverse community also mirrors Monona Terrace’s vision.
PLAN COMMISSION
MAURICE C. SHEPPARD (15th A.D.) - appoint to a three-year term to the position of Adult City Resident succeeding Jason S. Hagenow. Maurice Sheppard currently holds the First Alternate position and has served since 10-19-2021.
TERM EXPIRES: 4-30-2025
ARNOLD (GABE) MENDEZ (1st A.D.) - appoint to a one-year term to the position of First Alternate succeeding Maurice C. Sheppard. Gabe Mendez is the director of transportation operations for UW-Madison.
TERM EXPIRES: 4-30-2023
