To the President and members of the Common Council:

 

I hereby submit, for your consideration and approval, the following citizen committee appointments.  "Statement of Interests" forms are on file with the City Clerk's Office for those appointees required to file.

 

CDA HOUSING OPERATIONS SUBCOMMITTEE (For Information)

Appointment recommendations are made by CDA Chair.

 

ALICE J. FIKE, 755 Braxton Pl. #A311, 53715-1413 (13th A.D.) - reappointed to the remainder of a one-year term to the position of CDA Resident Member.  First appointed 5-15-2001.

TERM EXPIRES: 6-1-2005.

CONTRACTED SERVICE OVERSIGHT SUBCOMMITTEE

 

AHNARAY BIZJAK, 5520 Lacy Rd., Fitchburg, WI 53711 - appointed to the position of Alternate City of Fitchburg Representative succeeding Richard Olson.

 

DOWNTOWN COORDINATING COMMITTEE

 

*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.

Pursuant to Sec. 3.27(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, " … provisions of this section shall not necessarily apply with reference to membership on special study committees where in the judgment of the mayor and two-thirds (2/3) of the Common Council, the best interests of the city will be served by the appointment of certain nonresident members who are particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience … ."

 

KRISTINE B. GRUTZNER, 1205 Shorewood Blvd., 53705 - appointed to an unlimited term to the position of Alternate.  Ms. Grutzner is District 1 Business Improvement District (BID) Manager and vice president of DMI Programming for Downtown Madison Incorporated.  She succeeds Jill Lundberg.

UNLIMITED TERM.

 

Rationale:  Ms. Grutzner is Jill Lundberg's successor as the BID Manager and DMI Vice President.  Ms. Grutzner comes highly recommended by Ms. Lundberg.  In addition, it is important to keep the BID District involved in the DCC.

 

SOLID WASTE ADVISORY COMMITTEE

 

RUSSELL D. PIETZ, 360 W. Washington Ave. #1204, 53703-2765 (4th A.D.) - appointed to the remainder of a two-year term to the position of Adult City Resident.  Mr. Pietz is a civil engineer with Schreiber Anderson Associates.  He has a Master's Degree in environmental engineering, which included solid waste studies.  He succeeds Claire Schmidt who resigned.

TERM EXPIRES: 4-30-2006.

 

WEED COMMISSIONERS

 

STEVE SCHULTZ, Streets West - appointed to the remainder of a one-year term to the position of West Side Weed Commissioner and to an additional one-year term.  He succeeds Bob Gessler who retired.

CURRENT TERM EXPIRES:  5-15-2005.

NEXT TERM EXPIRES: 5-15-2006.

 

CHRIS KELLEY, Streets East - reappointed to a one-year term to the position of East Side Weed Commissioner.

First Appointed 5-15-2001.

TERM EXPIRES: 5-15-2006.
