Approving the Friends of Hoyt Park Fee Modification Agreement

The Friends of Hoyt Park (FHP) are an active partner to Madison Parks. Since 1995, the Friends have assisted the Parks Division with developing and implementing a Master Plan to steward this historic community resource. Their contributions have included funding for hourly staff, countless volunteer hours donated to care for historic stonework in the park and the valuable oak woodland habitat there. Through their efforts, a small prairie has been established, invasive species removed, and walking trails improved throughout an old quarry at the park's north end.
Elsewhere, they have removed invasive species, planted native plants, improved habitat for pollinators and other wildlife, and access and safety for park users. FHP holds regular volunteer workdays and guided tours that activate the park and engage the community. They maintain frequent communication and a good rapport with Parks staff, neighbors, and the district Alder.
