Subject: Freiburg Gastropub License
Greetings--
Since I previously wrote
to you expressing my dismay and disapproval of a restaurant planned for my
neighborhood, I felt I should let you know that I have revised my opinion.
The developers who plan
to open Freiburg Gastropub at 2612 Monroe St have heard neighborhood concerns
about their proposal for outdoor seating and the parking/traffic issues the
restaurant is apt to generate in an already congested area. They have committed
to permanently giving up on the outdoor seating idea and have contracted with a
nearby business for use of their parking lot. Best of all, they have been
willing to communicate with the people in the neighborhood--which is something
we too rarely see.
I am not exactly
thrilled about the gastropub because I live right next to the parking lot they
will be using, and there will be much more traffic and noise than I have had to
contend with until now. But I do believe it may be the 'lesser of possible
evils' for the space at 2612 Monroe. Given that the issues of most
concern to me (and the neighborhood in general) have been addressed and that
the owners have promised to continue communicating with the neighborhood, I am
now able to say I can live with the idea of the ALRC awarding a license to the
gastropub.
Thanks for your
consideration--
