I am writing this note in support of the application for the Freiburg Gastropub on Monroe Street.. My wife and I, who live just a few minutes walk of the proposed location, attended last night's neighborhood meeting and were very impressed with the efforts the owners have made to address neighborhood concerns. The level of commitment shown by the owners has convinced us that they will be a positive addition to Monroe Street and our neighborhood. It is unfortunate that questions and concerns about topics such as other establishments on Monroe Street and future development activities on the street have been "wrapped into" their application to the ALRC. While we join our neighbors with apprehension about the future plans for Monroe Street, the addition of the Freiburg Gastropub is not the problem. We lend our support, and urge the ALRC to approve this license application at next Wednesday's meeting.
