Subject: Fw: Problems At "Wiggies Bar"
To members of the ALRC
This is for your information.
Dear Alder Rhodes-Conway,
For much of the 20 years that I
represented the 17th District, 'Wiggies' was in the 17th until reapportionment
put it in the 12th Aldermanic
District. As time went by during the time I had to deal with the tavern,
problems
seemed to get worse at the
establishment. Robberies, alleged sexual assaults, thefts of personal
belongings,
even the beating death of a
patron by another patron in or near the parking lot occured sometime before you
came to Madison. Now, things
have gotten worse, with patrons getting robbed at gunpoint while sitting in a
bathroom stall, and people firing
gunshots through the walls or doors of the establishment, or even at each other
over some dispute that most likely
occured in or near the establishment! It was just a few years ago that
'Wiggies'
was considered one of the four worst
bars on the east side of Madison! Now that 'A Place For Friends" has
been
shut down, 'Wiggies' still is one of
the top three.
Our police and social service
resources are being stretched real thin thanks to the inability of this tavern
and the
obvious inability of its owner to
run a trouble-free business. And Wiganowski is thinking of running for
County
Executive, or someone else is
thinking of running him for that position! What a joke! You and the
City of Madison
need to get REAL tough with him, if
not close him down! Any tavern that is a problem for it's surrounding
neighbors
and the various agencies that have
to deal with them, in my opinion needs to be shut down! Sadly, in
that this
bar is white owned, it is
probably not going to happen. Never the less, you have my support if you
decide to get
tough.
