Ours is essentially a residential neighborhood, and the density of alcohol outlets does not warrant another license in the area. Nathan lists locations where alcohol can be purchased and carried away. In addition, here are bars and restaurants that sell alcohol that should be considered when you look at alcohol density: Brasserie V - within 1 block PIzza Brutta - within 1 block Jacs - within 3 blocks Laurel Tavern - within 3 blocks Pasquales - within 3 blocks Bluephies - within 3 blocks Finally, WITHIN 2 BLOCKS is Camp Randall and the extremely high density of bars and liquor outlets at the intersection of Regent and Monroe. The proposal is for a liquor store in the midst of what is a residential neighborhood that is not itself a high-density student neighborhood. Granting this liquor license cements that our neighborhood is a "pass through" corridor for those going to State St. to drink on weekends and to Camp Randall for home football games. Granting this license means we become a NEW high density corridor that will result in the same problems--and require the same police and city responses-- that you already see on Regent St. Aaron and Nancy Brower 2006 Madison St. 250-9992 ambrower@wisc.edu On Sep 22, 2010, at 9:53 AM, Nathan Montemayor wrote: > Hello Julia, > > Hopefully we will be able to make it to the meeting tonight at the > library, but in case we can not, I wanted to get my concerns to you. > My family is opposed to the opening of a liquor store in the > Burkhalter travel building on Monroe Street.
