Title

Approving request for volunteers to conduct ground penetrating radar at Hartmeyer-Roth Park. (District 12)

Body

A group of volunteers, led by Beth Sluys, has identified that Hartmeyer-Roth Park may have Native American cultural resources present. In the late summer of 2024, the volunteers, the Parks Division, the Wisconsin State Historical Society, and the Ho-Chunk Cultural Preservation Officer visited the site and confirmed the location warrants further investigation, including a Ground Penetrating Radar survey. Ground penetrating radar is a non-invasive method of imaging the subsurface. This group is requesting permission to conduct a survey, including utilization of ground penetrating radar, to support the documentation of any cultural resources at the park.
