Title
Board of Health for Madison and Dane County Resolution #2023 - 15 Authorization of Grant Application for BJA FY 23 Office of Justice Programs Community Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative
Body
Public Health Madison and Dane County (PHMDC) is intending to apply for a grant from the US Department of Justice to strengthen and enhance violence prevention and intervention capacity in our community. This opportunity would provide funding to prevent and reduce violent crime in communities by supporting comprehensive, evidence-based violence intervention and prevention programs. These programs include efforts to address gun violence based on partnerships among community residents, local government agencies, victim service providers, community based organizations, law enforcement, hospitals, researchers, and other community stakeholders.
PHMDC intends to apply for $2,000,000 over a 36 month period. The funding would support the advancement of PHMDC’s Violence Prevention and Intervention efforts by providing additional funding for personnel, supplies, and potentially funding for partner organizations. This funding also requires partnership with a researcher, to best demonstrate and evaluate the success of our endeavors.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County, on behalf of Public Health-Madison and Dane County, authorizes Public Health Madison and Dane County to apply for BJA FY 23 Office of Justice Programs Community Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative.
