Board of Health for Madison and Dane County Resolution #2023 - 12 Authorization to Accept $2,500 in Scholarship Funding from the National Association of County and City Health Officials
Body
Public Health Madison & Dane County (PHMDC) proposes the acceptance of $2,500 in scholarship funding from the National Association of County & City Health Officials (NACCHO). NACCHO is the leading organization dedicated to serving all local health departments in the nation by providing cutting-edge, skill-building, professional resources and programs, seeking health equity, and supporting effective local public health practice and systems.
PHMDC’s infection preventionists applied for and were awarded NACCHO’s Certification in Infection Control Scholarship. This scholarship is specifically designed to support local health department staff to obtain certification in infection control and build infection prevention and control capacity. The scholarship will be used to support infection preventionists, John Xiong and Bryan Anderson-Barbian, to obtain Certification in Infection Control (CIC).
Additionally, the scholarship funding will cover the costs of Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) membership, CIC exam prep (Certification Preparation & Review Bundle and The APIC Text), and exam fees. With CIC certification, John Xiong and Bryan Anderson-Barbian will be able to provide standardized practice and language to internal and external partners in regards to infection prevention and control related issues.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County on behalf of Public Health Madison and Dane County authorizes the Director of Public Health, or their designee, to accept the scholarship funding amount of $2500 from NACCHO for the purposes outlined above and adjust the 2023 Public Health Budget accordingly.
