Approval for Madison Public Library to forego the competitive bid process and enter into a Purchase of Service Contract with North American Mechanical, Inc.

Central Library utilizes a magnetic bearing chiller which is manufactured by only one company, Smardt from Canada, and is serviced in town only by NAMI. It is of extreme importance this repair take place as soon as possible so as not to endanger our ability to cool Central Library next summer. Due to the limited options and pressing need of the service and/or product, Madison Public Library has received provisional approval from City Finance to enter into a contract with NAMI to repair or replace a Smardt chiller compressor in time for the 2023 cooling season without going through the standard bid process.
