PREAMBLE

The City of Madison Engineering Division conducted the Strickers Mendota Watershed Study that identified the Mendota Grassman Greenway as an area that needs conveyance improvements to mitigate flooding of homes. This channel is a highly eroded greenway which also is in need of repairs to control erosion and sediment transfer to Lake Mendota.

The City entered into an agreement with MSA Professional Services, Inc. for engineering services (RES-20-00753) for the Mendota-Grassman Greenway Flood Mitigation and Restoration Design (Contract 8953) for the design of the Mendota Grassman Greenway.  The City Engineer requested additional engineering services and recommend that they be undertaken by MSA Professional Services, Inc. for the Mendota-Grassman Greenway Flood Mitigation and Restoration Design as defined below:

1.                     Sanitary support structure design

2.                     University Ave box culvert design

3.                     Review of Public Works Contractor culvert design calculations

4.                     8 monthly progress meetings

5.                     Topo and boundary survey needed for design

6.                     Sanitary access road design

7.                     A more extensive traffic control plan to accommodate the full removal and replacement of existing culverts.

The Original Contract will increase in amount by $74,819.00 to a new total amount of $225,312.00 with Amendment No. 1.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute and Amendment No. 1 to the contract between the City of Madison and MSA Professional Services, Inc.  for additional design services for Mendota-Grassman Greenway Flood Mitigation and Restoration Design.
