Title

In Honor, Recognition, and Appreciation of Paul Terranova's 21 Years of Dedicated Service as Executive Director of the Lussier Community Education Center (LCEC)

 

Body

WHEREAS, Paul Terranova began as Executive Director of the then Wexford Ridge Neighborhood Center on June 16, 2000, and has guided the center with vision, values, and dedication for 21 years as it evolved into the Lussier Community Education Center (LCEC); and,

 

WHEREAS, he has built on the principles of the founders to expand the organization into a vibrant, diverse, and vital community center sustained by relationships in which all are respected, encouraged to share their gifts, and support the center’s mission of building community, enriching education, and creating opportunities; and,

 

WHEREAS, his leadership and policymaking has reflected his commitment to the “Lussier Framework” with its several fundamental components, including Racial and Social Justice; and,

 

WHEREAS, he has guided the creation and expansion of a rich array of programs, including food and employment supports, Many Voices, One Community Radio at 95.5 FM, the Buffet Scholars, the Neighborhood Organizing Institute, and other initiatives; and,

 

WHEREAS, he has fostered partnerships with residents of Wexford Ridge Apartments and surrounding neighborhoods, schools, businesses, service clubs, faith communities, arts groups, universities and colleges, and others to create a welcoming place with rich opportunities where children, families, neighbors, and diverse groups across Madison can learn, grow, and work toward a healthy, vibrant, and more just society; and,

 

WHEREAS, he has demonstrated an extraordinary ability to bring diverse people together to build strong community, and has been a mentor and inspiration for countless people in Madison, Dane County, and beyond; and,

 

WHEREAS, he has been an esteemed leader in bringing all of Madison’s neighborhood centers and other social justice organizations to a place of collaboration, cooperation, and support;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council express gratitude for and recognize that Paul Terranova has made an enormous and invaluable contribution to the City of Madison and the many people from all walks of life who have benefited from being a part of the Lussier Community that he led, and wish him all the best in the future.
