Authorizing acceptance and appropriation to the 2021 Operating Budget a grant awarded to Madison Public Library from Institute for Museum and Library Services Leadership grants in the amount of $242,335 for development of the Librarian's Toolkit for Digital Observation, Assessment and Analysis.

WHEREAS, Madison Public Library submitted an application to Institure for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) for grant funds to create and develop a librarian's toolkit for digitally collecting, organizing, and analyzing qualitative, observational data to better measure the impact of hands-on, creative programming for all ages for libraries of varying sizes and capacities and to create a model to disseminate these tools nationwide; and,
WHEREAS, the development of this app is planned for three years in the following phases: Phase 1 September 2021 through December 2021: environmental needs scan determining the infrastructure of the digital toolkit; Phase 2 January 2022 through September 2022: creating the development plan; Phase 3 October 2022 through August 2023: development and testing; Phase 4 September 2023 through May 2024: continued testing and refinement; and finally, Phase 5 May 2024 through August 2024: sustainability and dissemination of the finished product; and,
WHEREAS, Madison Public Library will be collaborating with Waupaca Area Public Library, Skokie Public Library, UW Madison and Richland Library in Columbia, SC in the planning, developing and testing of the app.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the 2021 Madison Public Library Operating Budget is amended to appropriate $242,335; and,
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, the Madison Public Library is authorized to create the necessary 2021 Operating Budget amendment to add the appropriation of grant funds.
