Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes a one-year agreement with Meriter Health Services, with annual renewals thereafter, allowing Meriter employees and volunteers access to Metro Transit services through the unlimited ride pass program. Metro Transit will bill Meriter $1.35 per fixed route ride for the initial year (November 1, 2020 - October 31, 2021) of the contract and the applicable per ride rate in the then current Metro Transit Fare Tariff during all subsequent years of the agreement. Paratransit rides will be billed at the rate of the applicable paratransit fare in the Fare Tariff at the time the ride is taken. The 2021 Executive Budget includes $15,000 in revenues from the unlimited ride pass agreement with Meriter.

Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to enter into an agreement with Meriter Health Services, Inc. for the provision of passes to its employees and volunteers for Metro Transit fixed route and ADA paratransit services, with reimbursement to the transit utility for employee and volunteer trips for the period November 2, 2020 through October 31, 2021, with annual renewals each year thereafter unless amended or terminated.

WHEREAS, Meriter Health Services, Inc. and Metro Transit have had a successful and productive contracting arrangement for an employee/volunteer pass program in the past, and both parties wish to continue their agreement; and
WHERAS, the parties have negotiated a contract which meets all Transportation Commission criteria set in advance for pass agreements;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT THE Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to enter into a one year ride pass agreement with Meriter Health Services, Inc. owning and operating Meriter Hospital, from November 1, 2020 through October 31, 2021 which will be automatically renewed each year thereafter unless amended or terminated. Meriter will reimburse the transit utility $1.35 per fixed route ride during the first year of the agreement and the then current rate in the Metro Transit Fare Tariff for all subsequent years’ fixed route rides and all paratransit rides.
