Board of Health-Madison & Dane County Resolution #2020-16 to Enter into an Agreement with University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation, Inc. for the Services of Medical Director

Wisconsin state statute requires Public Health-Madison and Dane County (PHMDC) to have a licensed physician as its Medical Director. In 2013, the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County authorized the Director of the department to enter into an agreement with Jonathan Temte, M.D. for services of Medical Director via the University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation, Inc. (UWMF). Services included: review patient care protocols and procedures used by PHMDC as needed; review and approve health orders as needed for the control of communicable diseases consistent with WI Department of Health Services Administrative Rules Chapter 145; provide medical oversight for PHMDC staff and programs; provide medical direction in the event of an emergency situation; among others.
Additional signatories were added to document acknowledgement of UWMF entering into this agreement, and include: University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, and University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health Department of Family Medicine and Community Health.
PHMDC requests continuing this agreement with Dr. Temte, via UWMF and the signatories above, for the services of Medical Director to facilitate efficient operations of the department. The services would be provided at a rate of $8,000 per year for a one-year term, with subsequent automatic one-year renewals each year for four years with an annual escalator of up to three percent in the rate.
