Title
2019 Res-206 Funding 0.1 FTE Using Grant Funds to Add to Position #2674, Immunization Coordinator
Body
Public Health-Madison & Dane County (PHMDC) currently receives an Immunization Grant via the Consolidated Contract from the WI Department of Health Services on behalf of the Division of Public Health each year. Grant funds are used for a variety of activities, including paying salary/benefit for immunization program staff, conference and training expenses and general program expenses. The grant cannot pay for immunizations.

The Immunization Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between PHMDC and the Dane County Immunization Coalition (DCIC) which aims to increase vaccination rates of Dane County residents. Immunizations are safe, effective and prevent communicable diseases from spreading in our community. PHMDC has identified the need to improve immunization rates among children under 2 years of age and collect school waiver data, as required by grant provided by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services-State Immunization Program.

Position #2674, the Immunization Coordinator, is currently funded at 0.9 FTE. Using Immunization Program grant dollars, PHMDC proposes the reclassification and funding of currently unfunded position authority to create capacity for the Immunization Coordinator to plan efforts to increase immunization rates for children under 2 years of age, collect and report out school waiver data and to collaborate with the DCIC. Utilizing existing grant funds for this role aligns with grant expectations and this position would improve planning efforts to increase immunization rates in our community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that 0.1 FTE of Public Health Madison & Dane County unfunded position #2675 is reclassified from N18 Public Health Nurse to N18A Immunization Coordinator; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this 0.1 FTE of position authority is funded and combined with position #2674, effective immediately, making p...
