The proposed resolution transfers a reserve alcohol license from the City of Madison to the Village of Shorewood Hills. Currently the City has approximately 30 surplus alcohol licenses.

Body
WHEREAS. Wis. Stats. §125.51(4)(e)1., authorizes any municipality that is contiguous with, or within two miles of, another municipality, to request the transfer to the municipality, of a reserve “Class B” alcohol beverage license that is held by the neighboring municipality; and,

WHEREAS, the Village of Shorewood Hills is contiguous with the City of Madison and the Village of Shorewood Hills has requested that the City transfer to the Village a reserve “Class B” alcohol beverage license held by the City; and,

WHEREAS, the Village of Shorewood Hills has currently reached its quota of “Class B” alcohol beverage licenses that it may issue pursuant to Wis. Stats. §125.51(4); and,

WHEREAS, the City of Madison has not reached its quota of “Class B” alcohol beverage licenses that it may issue pursuant to Wis. Stats. §125.51(4); and,

WHEREAS, the City of Madison may transfer up to three “Class B” alcohol beverage licenses to any neighboring municipalities pursuant to Wis. Stats. §125.51(4), but has not yet transferred any such licenses; and,

WHEREAS, the Village of Shorewood Hills has requested that the City of Madison transfer a single reserve “Class B” alcohol beverage license to the Village of Shorewood Hills and has offered to compensate the City of Madison for the transfer of that license; and,

WHEREAS, Wis. Stats. §125.51(3)(e) allows the transferring municipality to establish the fee for the transferred license in an amount of not less than $10,000.00; and,

WHEREAS, the City of Madison understands that the transfer of a single reserve “Class B” alcohol beverage license to the Village of Shor...
