Title
Commending and thanking Alderperson Samba Baldeh for his dedicated and conscientious service during his tenure as Vice-President of the Madison Common Council.
Body
WHEREAS, Alderperson Samba Baldeh was elected by his peers to the office of Vice-President of the Madison Common Council on April 18, 2017 for the 2017 - 2018 term; and,
WHEREAS, Council Vice-President Baldeh met weekly with Mayor Paul Soglin and Common Council President Marsha Rummel to discuss issues effecting the city; and,
WHEREAS, Council President Rummel and Council Vice-President Baldeh met monthly with MPD Chief Mike Koval and his team to discuss public safety issues and concerns; and,
WHEREAS, during his term as Common Council Vice-President, Alderperson Baldeh served as vice-chair of the Common Council Executive Committee and also served on the Board of Park Commissioners, City-County Liaison Committee, Community Development Division Conference Committee, Digital Technology Committee, Jeffrey Clay Erlanger Civility in Public Discourse Award Committee, President’s Work Group to Develop City-Wide Surveillance Equipment & Data Management Policies and Sister City Collaboration Committee; and,
WHEREAS, Alderperson Baldeh has met the demands of his additional duties with diligent and dedicated service; and,
WHEREAS, Alderperson Baldeh, in addition to the above duties, continued to ably represent his 17th District constituents,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and members of the Common Council commend and thank Alderperson Samba Baldeh for his dedicated and conscientious service during his tenure as the first Vice-President of the Madison Common Council.
