Congratulating Perla Larios for being selected as the 2017 Miss Viva México and Ambassador of Mexican Culture and Heritage.
Body
WHEREAS, Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated in the United States from September 15 to October 15; and
WHEREAS, as part of the Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations, WLMV-La Movida 1480AM, a member station of Madison's Mid-West Family Broadcasting group, will celebrate the seventeenth annual Festival Viva México on Sunday, September 17, 2017; and
WHEREAS, it has become a tradition to select an outstanding young woman to represent the Mexican culture and heritage by being crowned as Miss Viva México; and
WHEREAS, Perla Larios was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, México, is currently a Liberal Arts student at Madison College with a major in Chemistry, and serves on the board of council for the Epilepsy Foundation in Madison, Wisconsin; and
WHEREAS, throughout 2017-18, she will participate in events and activities such as the Dane County Fair, Herencia Hispana Luncheon, and fundraisers to serve as a role model to other Latino youth in our community; and
WHEREAS, Perla Larios represents the perseverance, beauty, and dreams of our Latina youth;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council congratulate Perla Larios for being selected as the 2017 Miss Viva México and Ambassador of Mexican Culture and Heritage.
