Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution approves plan documents for the stormwater work at Prak Edge Drive on the southwest side of the City. Funding is provided by Stormwater Utility funded GO borrowing. In the adopted 2017 capital budget $1.27 million was approved for flood mitigation projects via the Citywide Flood Mitigation program which strives to improve stormwater network performance in City location that have experienced floods during large rain events.

Approving plans and specifications and authorizing the Board of Public Works to advertise and receive bids for 6741 Park Edge Dr Flood Mitigation.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Madison has been actively working on improving regional storm water flooding issues as a result of the July 21, 2016 rain event which revealed several deficiencies in our storm system; and,
WHEREAS, the Common Council supported these efforts by including $1,275,000 in the 2017 Stormwater Utility budget to fund the additional projects needed; and,
WHEREAS, the property at 6741 Park Edge Dr is subject to flooding during extreme events as it is in an enclosed depression; and,
WHEREAS, the water from that enclosed depression drains out through an existing permanent easement within the property of 6741 Park Edge Dr; and,
WHEREAS, the owners of 6741 Park Edge Dr have agreed to grant the City of Madison a Permanent Easement for public storm sewer and drainage facilities to improve the overflow situation; and,
WHEREAS, plans to replace the existing storm includes increasing the pipe capacity to manage overflow to prevent the ponding of flood water within the parking lot of 6741 Park Edge Dr; and,
WHEREAS, City Engineering intends to advertise and receive bids to complete this project; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
1) That the plans and specifications for the storm sewer and drainage facilities at and through 6741 Park Edge Drive, be and are hereby approved.
