The adopted 2017 capital budget authorizes $300,000 for the planning and design process of the Monroe Street project (MUNIS10251) and budgets $14,910,000 for street construction in 2018. Funding is provided by GO borrowing.

PREAMBLE
The City is proposing to reconstruct Monroe Street from Odana Road to Regent Street in 2018. The approved Capital Improvement Plan for 2017 budgeted $300,000 in 2017 and $14,910,000 in 2018 for completion of the reconstruction project. Reconstruction includes work along the entrance to Wingra Park and removal of Crazylegs Lane. This contract is for landscape architecture services to design the Wingra Park entrance and Crazylegs Plaza (bounded by Monroe Street, Regent Street, and Breese Terrace), along with artwork to contribute to placemaking in the above-mentioned locations. Pursuant to City Ordinances and Policies, the Purchasing Division and Engineering Division advertised for consultant proposals, reviewed the submitted proposals, and recommends the contract be awarded to Ken Saiki Design, Inc.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Purchasing Agent is authorized to sign a contract with Ken Saiki Design, Inc. in the amount of $150,000 for Landscape Architect services and public artwork associated with the Monroe Street Reconstruction Project is hereby approved in the amount of $150,000.
