Fiscal Note

The proposed resolution creates a Chief of Staff position for the Common Council. As proposed, the position will be created within compensation group 21. Funding for the position was included in the 2017 Adopted Budget. This funding assumed the position would be hired as a compensation group 19 position and filled for half of 2017. The 2018 budget will annualize funding for the position. At the proposed salary level, the projected increase for the 2018 budget is $43,000.

Body

WHEREAS, the 2017 Adopted Operating Budget for the Common Council Office calls for the creation and funding for a chief of staff position; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Common Council Organization Committee created a subcommittee to work on the details for the new position; and, 

 

WHEREAS, the subcommittee worked with Human Resources to create a position description, employment contract, and a detailed report with recommendations for recruitment, selection, and terms of employment; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Common Council Organization Committee would like Human Resources to move forward with the recruitment process,

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the classification of Common Council Chief of Staff is created in CG21, R18,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a 1.0 FTE position of Common Council Chief of Staff in CG21, R18, is created in the operating budget of the Common Council Office, thereof.
