Title
Establishing an additional In-Person Absentee Voting site for the November 2016 General Election
Body
WHEREAS, approximately 8,000 UW-Madison students registered to vote on Election Day for the 2016 Presidential Primary; and
WHEREAS, nearly 3,000 UW-Madison students registered to vote before the 2016 Presidential Primary; and
WHEREAS, most of these UW-Madison students have moved since April and will need to re-register to vote before the Presidential Election; and
WHEREAS, voter turnout for a Presidential Election tends to be much higher than voter turnout for a Presidential Primary; and
WHEREAS, the space designated for In-Personal Absentee Voting on the UW-Madison campus may be too small to adequately meet demand;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council establishes an additional campus location for UW-Madison students to cast absentee ballots at the Student Activity Center, room 4204 of 333 East Campus Mall, weekdays October 24 through November 4.
