Commending, honoring and expressing thanks and appreciation to Linda Elmore, Code Enforcement Officer III, upon her retirement from City service.
Body
WHEREAS, Linda Elmore is retiring on May 27, 2016 after 40 years of service to the City of Madison.
Linda began her career as a Clerk Typist in the Inspection Unit on August 30, 1976. In 1977 she moved on to an Inspector Aid and was promoted to a Code Enforcement Officer I in April of 1978.

WHEREAS, during Linda’s service to the City she helped facilitate the conversion of files from envelopes to color coded files to microfiche to computerized records and into our current document imaging system. Linda’s career also spanned a time from when permits were manually entered into a ledger, through several computer programs, and into our current system.

WHEREAS, Linda’s many duties have included participation on many Neighborhood Resource Teams since the inception of the NRT program and working with the Housing Committee and Landlord & Tenant Issues Subcommittee;

WHEREAS, Linda’s broad knowledge of construction and mechanical practices made her the ideal person for training new Housing and Property Maintenance staff as they joined the Division and a fantastic resource for all City employees on a wide variety of building related issues.

WHEREAS, Linda will be remembered as a dedicated public servant who by her actions and attention to detail has demonstrated to other employees what it means to provide excellent customer service to our external as well as internal customers.

WHEREAS, Linda will forever be remembered as the “meanest woman in town” thanks to a front page story in the December 21st 1977 Capital Times newspaper that gave her that moniker along with a glowing appraisal of her untiring efforts, beauty contestant appearance, as well as information every woman hopes to see in print; her height, weight, and age.
