Fiscal Note
In the adopted 2016 capital budget, Engineering Bike and Pedestrian has budgeted $2.68 million for the repair of defective sidewalk and installation of new sidewalk under the Sidewalk Program (MUNIS 11106). Minor project for 2016 Requested Citywide Sidewalk (MUNIS 10148) has sufficient budget authority for the associated cost of the proposed resolution. Funding is provided by a combination of GO borrowing and transfers from special assessments.

The proposed resolution orders the replacement of the substandard sidewalk at a total estimated cost of $28,000 to Engineering Bike and Pedestrian.

PREAMBLE

To provide safe pedestrian travel throughout the City, new areas of sidewalk are installed and also existing sections of sidewalk in need of repair are removed and replaced.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the property owners of the property hereinafter described be hereby ordered to install sidewalk or parts thereof, hereinafter described, in full compliance with the requirements of the City Ordinance governing such construction. Firm arrangements for such construction shall be made by the date specified on the Sidewalk Notice, and that if arrangements are not made by the aforesaid date, the City of Madison, will cause such sidewalk to be installed and charge the cost hereof to the property in front of which the walk is laid, and such cost, unless previously paid, will be collected as a special tax against the property in front of which the walks are installed.
