Congratulating Angélica Jackelyn Barajas for being selected as the 2015 Miss Viva México and ambassador of Mexican culture and heritage.

Body

WHEREAS, Hispanic Heritage month is celebrated in the United States from September 15 to October 15; and

 

WHEREAS, as part of the Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations, WLMV - La Movida 1480AM, a member radio station of Madison’s Mid-West Family Broadcasting group, will celebrate the fourteenth-annual Festival Viva México 2015 on Sunday, September 13, 2015; and

 

WHEREAS, it has become a tradition to select an outstanding young woman to represent the Mexican culture and heritage by being crowned as Miss Viva México; and

 

WHEREAS, Angélica Jackelyn Barajas was born in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, México, is currently a student of Cosmetology and works as a Certified Nursing Assistant; and

 

WHEREAS, throughout 2015-2016, she will participate in events and activities such as Dane County Fair, Latino Health Fair, and fundraisers to serve as a role model to other Latino youth in our community; and

 

WHEREAS, Angélica Jackelyn Barajas represents the perseverance, beauty and dreams of our Latina youth;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council congratulate Angélica Jackelyn Barajas for being selected as the 2015 Miss Viva México and ambassador of Mexican culture and heritage.
