Title
Authorizing the adoption of the 2015 International Fire Code® as the most current edition of the International Fire Code® as mandated by the Madison General Ordinance Section 34.01(14)(a).
Body
Under Madison General Ordinance Section 34.01(14)(a), the most current edition of the International Fire Code® is adopted by reference. New editions of the International Fire Code are released every three years. Currently, the City of Madison uses the 2012 edition. The 2015 edition was released in January and is now the most current edition.
WHEREAS, on June 15, 2015, the Council re-enacted and passed ORD-14-00102, authorizing the City of Madison to use the most current edition of the International Fire Code®, and
WHEREAS, the International Fire Code® is updated every three years, and
WHEREAS, the 2015 International Fire Code® is the most current edition, and
WHEREAS, Fire Marshall Edwin Ruckriegel and Fire Department staff have reviewed the changes made in 2015 ed. International Fire Code® and deemed them to be enhancements to the requirements already in place through the 2012 edition, and
WHEREAS, the changes in the 2015 edition are merely enhancements and will not a hardship for local property owners, and
WHEREAS, by adopting the 2015 edition, there will not be a negative fiscal impact on the City of Madison,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the Common Council hereby authorize the adoption of the 2015 edition of the International Fire Code®, effective June 15, 2015; and,
BE FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorize to execute, deliver, publish, file and record such other documents, instruments, notices and records, and take such other action as shall be necessary or desirable to accomplish the purpose of this Resolution, and to comply with and performed the obligations of the City hereunder.
