Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute Addendum Number 1 to the agreement with the USGS to monitor storm water quality associated with phosphorus reduction actions by the City of Madison.
Body
WHEREAS, the Rock River Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) requires that the City of Madison reduce phosphorus loading by about 16,000 pounds;
 
WHEREAS, the City of Madison is conducting a pilot project utilizing alum to reduce phosphorus loading to Lake Wingra in order to work towards compliance with the Rock River TMDL;
 
WHEREAS, the USGS agreed to work with the City of Madison on a leaf collection study that measures phosphorus reduction in stormwater runoff and have historically gauged the alum pilot site for water quality monitoring;
 
WHEREAS, the USGS has the expertise and equipment to gauge and set up water quality monitoring for the alum pilot treatment;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk area authorized to execute addendum #1 to the existing agreement with the USGS to provide additional stormwater monitoring services.
