Title
Supporting the application by the Madison Parks Foundation for a Dane County Partners for Recreation and Conservation (PARC) grant for development of two new splash parks, one in Reindahl Park and one in Elver Park.
Body
WHEREAS, the plan to develop two splash parks in 2014, one in Elver Park and one in Reindahl Park, has been approved by the Madison City Council; and
WHEREAS, the Council allocated $1,700,000 from the 2014 Capital Budget to support the costs of the splash park project; and,
WHEREAS, the 2014 Capital Budget calls for an additional $300,000 to be raised from external sources to develop the splash parks; and,
WHEREAS, the Madison Parks Foundation has raised $220,000 in contributions toward this goal from a wide range of community sources; and,
WHEREAS, the Madison Parks Foundation is applying to the Dane County PARC program for $80,000 to reach its fundraising goal.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Madison Common Council supports the Madison Parks Foundation's application to the Dane County PARC program for a grant of $80,000 to develop the two splash parks.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to enter into an agreement with the Madison Parks Foundation and/or Dane County for use of these funds, should they be awarded, to develop the Elver and Reindahl splash parks.
