Body
WHEREAS, the Common Council, by Resolution No. 12,459, adopted March 9, 1967, has approved a master list of existing street names and designations for all purposes; and
 
WHEREAS, Secs. 10.34(1) and 10.35, Madison General Ordinances, require the City Engineer to maintain certain street numbering maps; and
 
WHEREAS, The Edgewater Hotel Company, LLC, owner and developer of the property located at 666 Wisconsin Avenue has committed to the maintenance of the Wisconsin Avenue corridor from Langdon Street to its terminus to the northwest as per "Maintenance Agreement for Portions of the Public Right of Way at 666 Wisconsin Avenue" recorded with the Dane County Register of Deeds as Document Number 4932845; and
 
WHEREAS, Bryson Heezen, project coordinator representing The Edgewater Hotel Company, LLC, owner and developer of the property located at 666 Wisconsin Avenue, has requested that the City of Madison change the name of a portion of Wisconsin Avenue to Wisconsin Place beginning at Langdon Street proceeding northwesterly to its terminus 126 feet northwesterly of the northwesterly line of Langdon Street, a map of the area to be renamed is attached and part of this resolution; and
 
WHEREAS, Bryson Heezen, project coordinator representing The Edgewater Hotel Company, LLC, owner and developer of the property located at 666 Wisconsin Avenue made the request for the name change on Novermber 6, 2013 to City Engineer Robert Phillips, a copy of which is attached and part of this resolution; and
 
WHEREAS, Bryson Heezen, project coordinator representing The Edgewater Hotel Company, LLC, owner and developer of the property located at 666 Wisconsin Avenue made a request on December 10, 2013 to City of Madison Staff, a copy of which is attached and part of this resolution, for the parcel addressed as 666 Wisconsin Avenue be changed to 1001 Wisconsin Place upon the adoption by the Common Council of the street change name from Wisconsin Avenue to Wisconsin Place; and
 
WHEREAS, the Original Plat of Madison,  which was recorded October 10, 1839 as Document No. 102, Dane County Registry, named this segment of public right-of-way Wisconsin Avenue; and
 
WHEREAS, the City of Madison vacated the portion of Wisconsin Avenue per City of Madison Ordinance Number 1761, File Number 4600-41 adopted on January 28, 1965 and recorded with the Dane County Register of Deeds as Document Number 1123724 lying adjacent to and northwesterly of the portion of Wisconsin Avenue to be renamed; and
 
WHEREAS, the City of Madison vacated the portion of Wisconsin Avenue per City of Madison Ordinance Number 36,887, File Number 4600-192 adopted on April 14, 1981 and recorded with the Dane County Register of Deeds as Document Number 1703951 lying adjacent to and southwesterly of the portion of Wisconsin Avenue to be renamed; and
 
WHEREAS, the City of Madison Engineering Division supports the request to change the name of the described portion of Wisconsin Avenue to Wisconsin Place; and
 
WHEREAS, the City of Madison Engineering Division supports the request to change the parcel addressed as 666 Wisconsin Avenue to 1001 Wisconsin Place upon the adoption by the Common Council of the street change name from Wisconsin Avenue to Wisconsin Place; and
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by approving this resolution, the City of Madison Common Council hereby approves the street name change for the portion of Wisconsin Avenue lying northwesterly of Langdon Street from Wisconsin Avenue to Wisconsin Place.
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, upon approval and adoption of the street name change that the City Assessor's Office and City Engineer's Office be permitted to change the parcel addressed as 666 Wisconsin Avenue to 1001 Wisconsin Place; and
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that one (1) total, public street signage change is required as a result of approval of this resolution and will be completed by the City of Madison Traffic Engineering Division at the intersection of Langdon Street and Wisconsin Avenue as at a location determined by the City of Madison Traffic Engineering Staff; and
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a portion of estimated costs associated with the fabrication and installation of all public and private signage by the City of Madison Traffic Engineering Division, not to exceed $200.00, shall be paid by Edgewater Hotel Company, LLC; and      
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, this Resolution will have a delayed effective date of no later than June 1, 2014. All signage (by City Traffic Engineering) and address changes (by City Assessor and City Engineering Division) will occur on or before that date. The City of Madison Traffic Engineering Division will coordinate and schedule all necessary signage changes in the field as a result of this street name change as closely as possible to said effective date of June 1, 2014.
