Congratulating the Madison Mallards on winning the 2013 Northwoods League Championship and being honored as the 2013 Northwoods League, Organization of the Year.
Body
WHEREAS, The Madison Mallards Baseball Team compiled a season record of 41-29, defeated the Lakeshore Chinooks in the South Division Championship Series and then swept the Duluth Huskies in two games to capture the 2013 Northwoods League Championship.
WHEREAS, The Madison Mallards Baseball Team has been a partner, lease holder and has called Warner Park and the "Duck Pond" Baseball Stadium home for 13 years; and,
WHEREAS, The Madison Mallards Baseball Team has partnered with the Madison Parks Division on the following programs: Rubber Ducky River Race, Kids to Kids Garage Sale, Madison Parks Day at the Ballpark, Madison Parks Hayrides, Moonlight Movies, Goodman Pool Family Fun Days; and,
WHEREAS, The Madison Mallards Baseball Team has partnered with the Madison Parks Foundation in donating the proceeds of the ticket sales of the Physician Plus Backyard seating area; and,
WHEREAS, the Madison Mallards Baseball Team has partnered with the City of Madison in the renovation and has invested in the infrastructure of the Warner Park "Duck Pond" Baseball Stadium, and has been recognized by the Associated Recyclers of Wisconsin and received the 2012 Outstanding Achievement in Recycling Award; and,
WHEREAS, the Madison Mallards Baseball Team has brought a new excitement to baseball in Madison, filling the stadium home game after home game with family-friendly entertainment; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor, Common Council and Madison Parks wish to recognize the strong support of the Madison Mallards fans; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor, Common Council and Madison Parks want to recognize Steve Schmitt, Vern Stenman and Conor Caloia for their team leadership and a commitment to the Madison community.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor, Common Council and Madison Parks wish to congratulate the Madison Mallards Baseball Team for winning the 2013 Northwoods League Championship and being honored as the 2013 Northwoods League, Organization of the Year .
