Fiscal Note

The funds for a SCCM upgrade were budgeted for and are available in the Information Technology capital budget project Hardware and Software Upgrades, account 810344.  The cost for FrontRange DSM v7 Desktop Management licenses and maintenance is $70,523.

Title

Authorizing the City to purchase DSM v7 Desktop Management from FrontRange Solutions on a sole source basis.

Body

WHEREAS, the City's current system center configuration manager (SCCM) (a Microsoft product) is changing licensing and bundling requirements; and

WHEREAS, the changes being made by Microsoft are cost prohibitive and include unnecessary modules, while omitting needed modules; and

WHEREAS, the SCCM application is needed by City IT HelpDesk staff to remote control workstations, maintain an inventory of hardware, allow deployment of software and to create scripts; and

WHEREAS, a replacement application, DSM v7 Desktop Management, is manufactured and available from FrontRange Solutions; and

WHEREAS, DSM v7 offered the most capabilities and is the sole product that integrates with current call tracking software (HEAT), also a FrontRange Solutions product.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council authorizes the City to purchase DSM v7 Desktop Management from FrontRange Solutions on a sole source basis.
