Title
Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into an agreement with Assemblage Architects for professional services to design the Highland Manor Community Safe Room for the City of Madison.  (14th AD)
Body
Whereas,  Highland Manor, located at 1501-1515 Moorland Road in the City of Madison has 361 improved sites and over 500 residents within a Manufactured Home Community; and,

Whereas, local emergency preparedness officials have identified Highland Manor as a residential community that  could greatly benefit from the construction of a safe room that could accommodate residents in the event of tornados or high wind events; and,

Whereas, the City has secured grant funding that shall provide for 87.5% of the total project cost to design and construct a safe room and the 2013 Parks Department Capital Budget provides for the local match and overall project funding; and,

Whereas, the City desires to follow an aggressive schedule to construct the facility for opening prior to the 2014 severe weather season; and,

Whereas, now the City has solicited consultants to design the facility and has selected a design consultant in accordance with a competitive process.

Now therefore be it resolved that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with Assemblage Architects for professional services to design the Highland Manor Community Safe Room for the City of Madison.
