Body
Section 8.21 of the Madison General Ordinances, "Public Parks to Be Closed During Certain Hours", provides that parks shall be closed at 10 p.m. except where closing hours may be extended by the Superintendent of Parks to 11 p.m. due to scheduled recreational events. It further provides that the Common Council may by Resolution permit specific parks to be open after 11 p.m. for designated events approved by the Common Council.
Madison Opera is hosting its 11th annual Opera in the Park event to provide an evening of opera to benefit citizens of Madison on Saturday, July 13, 2013 (Raindate: July 14) and desires to remain in the park to host an after-concert reception for its major donors until 11:30 p.m.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council hereby extends the closing hours for Garner Park from 10:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. on July 13, 2013 (Raindate: July 14) to allow the 11th annual Opera in the Park event to benefit the citizens of Madison.
