As Gay Davidson-Zielske, Norma Gay Prewett taught English composition and creative writing until she gave in to the temptation to retire from UW-Whitewater in 2012. She has written for Mindseye Radio, had numerous poems published in the Wisc Poets Calendar, and has been active on the Tenney-Lapham Neighborhood Association board in many capacities for many years, currently as Girl Reporter for the newsletter. She was a pioneer in the backyard chicken movement before it became popular and has helped sponsor three Tours des Coops in her neighborhood. Her last hen, Freida Lay, spent her last days at an exclusive rural location for retired biddies and was predeceased by her flockmates, Pullet Surprise and Michelle Obama's Arms.
