Title
Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to sign a Sec. 66.0301 Intergovernmental Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) for the use of fiber optic communication strands.
Body
WHEREAS, the City and WISDOT have fiber optic communication needs that are not met by their respective fiber optic networks; and
 
WHEREAS, the City has fiber optic strands that would bridge some of the WISDOT fiber optic network gaps and WISDOT has fiber optic strands that would bridge some of the City fiber optic network gaps; and
 
WHEREAS, the City and WISDOT wish to trade the use of some of their fiber optic strands to bridge gaps in their respective networks; and
 
WHEREAS, the City will be using some of the WISDOT fiber optic strands to provide multiplexed connections for the MUFN Consortium members; and
 
WHEREAS, the City will use the WISDOT multiplexed strands to connect several City first responder sites including three police districts and four fire stations; and
 
WHEREAS, the City has a twenty (20) year commitment to maintain the MUFN fiber optic network; and
 
WHEREAS, the City and WISDOT will not incur any additional costs for this agreement;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to sign a Sec. 66.0301 Intergovernmental Agreement with WISDOT for the use of fiber optic communication strands as described above, with the initial term being twenty years, subject to renewal and cancellation provisions.
