To Declare the Week of April 21 through April 27 Arbor Week 2013 and to commemorate the City of Madison's 24^th anniversary as a Tree City USA

Body

ARBOR WEEK PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, trees in our city will reduce the erosion of topsoil by wind and water; and

WHEREAS, trees cut heating and cooling costs and help moderate the temperature; and

WHRERAS, trees clean the air, sequester excess carbon, produce oxygen and provide habitat for wildlife; and

WHEREAS, Madison has been recognized as a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation for 24 consecutive years and desires to continue its tree planting ways; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED, by the City of Madison that April 21 thru 27^th is Arbor Week 2013 in the City of Madison and all residents are urged to protect our trees and woodlands, to support our urban forestry program, and to plant trees to promote the well-being of present and future generations.
