Fiscal Note
This grant, if awarded, requires City matching funds of $17,400.  Depending on the date of award, the Fire Department will absorb the matching funds in its 2013 Operating Budget or include funds in its 2014 Operating Budget.

A grant application has been submitted for a smoke alarm campaign.  The request includes 5,000 smoke alarms and educational materials.
 
The grant is 80% federal funds $69,600 and 20% City matching funds of $17,400. The budget is:

  17,400 City Match
 
If the grant is awarded the Fire Department plans to absorb the match.  If the grant is not awarded this year, the Department will include it in the 2014 budget.
 
 
WHEREAS, the City applied for a grant for a smoke alarm campaign.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City accept the 2012 Fire Prevention and Safety Grant of awarded by FEMA, Department of Homeland Security.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor, City Clerk and other necessary City officials are authorized to execute necessary grant documents.
 
BE IT STILL FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council approves the grant budget.
