CHARTER Amending Section 16.01(3) of the Madison General Ordinances to make the terms of Alderpersons on the Plan Commission coincide with their terms on the Common Council.

DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS: This ordinance makes the terms of Alderpersons on the Plan Commission coincide with their Common Council terms.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:
The City of Madison elects not to be governed by the provisions of Wis. Stat. § 62.23(1). This election is made pursuant to Wis. Stat. § 66.0101(4).
Subsection (3) entitled "Appointment and Terms of Alderperson Members" of Section 16.01 entitled "City Plan Commission" is amended to read as follows:
"(3) Appointment and Terms of Alderperson Members. The Mayor shall appoint three (3) members of the Common Council to be members of such commission; and, at its annual meeting in April of each year the Common Council shall, by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of its members confirm any such mayoral appointments of three of its number as members of the City Plan Commission for a period of two years from and after the first day of May next ensuing terms to coincide with their terms on the Common Council.
This is a Charter Ordinance and shall be effective upon sixty (60) days from passage and publication subject, however, to the referendum procedures in Wis. Stat. § 66.0101(5)."
