Supporting the application by the City of Madison Parks Division for a Dane County Partners for Recreation and Conservation (PARC) grant for oak savanna restoration projects.
 
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Madison Parks Division in conjunction with the City of Madison Finance Department is applying for a Dane County Partners for Recreation and Conservation (PARC) grant to assist in the capital costs of restoration of over 90 acres of oak savanna in Cherokee Marsh, Turville Point and Edna Taylor Conservation Parks; and
 
WHEREAS, the 2012 City of Madison Capital Budget includes $65,000 for oak savanna restoration in Cherokee Marsh, Turville Point and Edna Taylor Conservation Parks; and
 
WHEREAS, the restoration efforts will enhance the value of the Conservation Parks by removing invasive species; providing habitat for threatened species that rely on the open woods environment; and provide park users the opportunity to see into the pre-settlement history of Wisconsin's natural landscape.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Madison Common Council supports the grant application for a Dane County Partners for Recreation and Conservation (PARC) grant to be used for oak savanna restoration at Cherokee Marsh, Turville Point and Edna Taylor Conservation Parks.
