Requesting approval to hire Dimension IV, Madison Design Group to provide architectural and engineering design consulting services for the design of a new roofing system for the Olbrich Botanical Gardens Complex located at 3330 Atwood Avenue, Madison, Wisconsin.

Body
WHEREAS the 2012 Capital Budget includes an amount of $1,350,000 for architectural and engineering consulting design services and construction for the installation of a new standing seam copper roofing system, an Architect consultant must be hired to design this project; and,

WHEREAS the total contract compensation for architectural and engineering design services for Dimension IV Madison Design Group Inc. is $115,200; and,

WHEREAS the project is the development and preparation of designs, plans and specifications, preparation of bid documents, assistance in the bid process and construction administration for the replacement of approximately 18,500 ft² of a structural standing seam metal roof system with a structural deck system that supports an architectural copper standing and flat seam roof system. This analysis and design, including structural engineering, shall include the design of a support deck system that incorporates the addition of an optimal value of thermal insulation and all other components to achieve a waterproof roofing system that eliminate the reoccurrence of the existing ice damming conditions. The intent is to achieve an overall R-value of 30 or greater for the roof. Additionally, the 1,033 ft² of single-ply membrane roof system over the mechanical room shall be replaced and the skylight in the entry area shall be replaced or reconditioned; and,
