State Cheesemakers Triumph Again at World Championship Cheese Contest

WHEREAS, Madison's Monona Terrace and Convention Center was once again the host for the World Championship Cheese Contest; and
 
WHEREAS, the contest, held every other year, had a record 2,504 entries totaling about 50,000 pounds of cheese; and
 
WHEREAS, entries came from 24 countries; and
 
WHEREAS, judges for the event traveled to Madison for the event from 15 nations; and
 
WHEREAS, Wisconsin cheesemakers topped 30 of the contest's 82 categories and had four entrieis in the Sweet 16 finals; and
 
WHEREAS, Wisconsin cheesemakers had the top three finishers in nine of the categories; and
 
WHEREAS, there were no entries from California in the Sweet 16 finals; and
 
WHEREAS, Wisconsin's many awards clearly settle the question of who has the happiest cows; and
 
NOW, THEREFORE, the Mayor and Common Council commend the Wisconsin Cheesemakers Association and
its members for excelling at their craft and wishes them much future success in their domination of the World Championship Cheese Contest.
