Title
To establish a sister city relationship between the City of Madison, Wisconsin, USA, and the City of Tepatitlán de Morelos, Jalisco Mexico.
Body
WHEREAS, the exchanges between our countries add richness, diversity and the promise of global peace to our lives; and
WHEREAS, friendship unites people of all ages and backgrounds and surmounts barriers of distance, culture, language and politics;
WHEREAS, the people of Madison have a long and noble tradition of furthering peace, understanding, cooperation and democracy through sister city relationships
WHEREAS, Madison has a long history of engagement with the people of Mexico and is home to thousands of residents of Mexican descent; and
WHEREAS, , it is the desire of the Mayor, the City Council and the citizens of the City of Madison to establish a formal sister city relationship between Madison and Tepatitlán de Morelos;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that that the Mayor and the Madison Common Council do hereby establish a sister city relationship between the City of Madison, Wisconsin, USA, and City of Tepatitlán de Morelos, Jalisco Mexico.
