Fiscal Note
Hearing Examiner services would be provided in 2012 at a rate of $65 per hour with a $200 maximum per hearing. Reconsideration hearings will have a maximum rate of $200 per hearing. The rates remain unchanged from 2011.  Funds are included in the Building Inspection Division's 2012 Executive Operating Budget.

Body
WHEREAS, Section 32.04(4)(e)2., Madison General Ordinances, entitles Rent Abatement Hearing Examiners to conduct hearings on requests for authorization for rent abatement and to determine the exact amount of rent, if any, which may be abated pursuant to the ordinances; and
 
WHEREAS, the Housing Committee voted to recommend entering into an agreement with Thomas Boykoff for professional services as Rent Abatement Hearing Examiner for the year 2012, the funds for which are available in the budget of the Building Inspection Division to provide professional services for Rent Abatement Hearing Examiners for the year 2012 as set forth in the fiscal note above.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the City Clerk be and hereby are authorized to sign, on behalf of the City, an agreement with the aforementioned attorney providing for services as Rent Abatement Hearing Examiner for the Building Inspection Division of the Department of Planning and Community and Economic Development for the calendar year of 2012.
